They called him the Yankee Red-Head.  His name was Harold "Red" Cummings. Red was a sensation in the midgets when he started racing in 1946.  In 1948 he went to the Stock Cars and ended up winning 19 features in 35 starts, never once finishing out of the top 5. At Dover, N.H. he flipped 4 times and came back to score a clean sweep of the nights events. He won at Lonsdale, R.I., won every race but one at Hudson Speedway and won every race at West Peabody.
