THIS WEEK
TAKING A LOOK AT
The Alkas Brothers

When you talk of brothers in racing, the most formidable threesome to hit the asphalt at Plainville Stadium was the Alkas Brothers, Davey, Fred & George.  All three managed to win features at the 1/4 mile oval, the only threesome of brothers to do so.  Of course Dave captured 5 Modified Championships and over 100 wins in his career which ended with the closing of Plainville Stadium in 1981.  Fred went on for several years at the Waterford Speedbowl and George went on to compete at many tracks until his untimely death in a highway accident while returning home from work in the 80's.
