congratulates Reggie Ruggiero after one of his 10 wins behind the wheel of the
#9 during the 1975 season at Plainville Stadium. Don is hard at work
building a replica of the #9 for the NEAR Events and is expecting to have the
car completed for the big Nostalgia Weekend at the Waterford Speedbowl August
9th & 10th.
As of now it is expected that 1972 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year and one
of the original "Eastern Bandits" Dennis Zimmerman will be behind the wheel of
the #9 at the Speedbowl's Hall of Fame Race during Nostalgia Weekend.
Most living Hall of Fame members will be on hand for an autograph session on
Saturday night with many Hall of Famers getting behind the wheel for the Special
15 lap Hall of Fame Invitational Race on Sunday Afternoon. Saturday's
admission is good for both days. Those so far scheduled to be signing
autographs on Saturday night include Hall of Famers Pete Hamilton, Denny
Zimmerman, Ronnie Bouchard, Dick Watson, Ray Miller, Rene Charland, Gene Bergin,
Ernie Gahan, Bill Slater, Bugs Stevens, Leo Cleary, Billy Greco, Ron Narducci,
George Summers, Chick Stockwell, Bill Wimble and Moon Burgess with more expected
to be announced. The cars of NEAR, STAR and ACOT will also be on display
Saturday Night before they take to the track at 12:00 P.M. on Sunday.
This will probably be the only time fans will ever get a chance to get so many
Hall of Fame autographs at one time.
A Special Program will be available with photos of the Hall of Famers for the
autograph session.
