will be a longer road to recovery.

John Thomas presents Bill Slater with a model of the famous V8 car. John was the youngest Official in NASCAR and at Norwood Arena Speedway. John's title of "Junior Official" was issued by NASCAR in Daytona Beach after Chief Steward Carl Merrill brought John to the attention of NASCAR management. Bill Slater often asked John for racing advise and to check over the V8 for him as John walked through the pit area. Bill had a profound impact on this young man. John passed away at age 7 from leukemia in August of 1964.

GET WELL SOON BILL!
