The NEAR Display at RACEARAMA 2003 proved to be one of the most popular attractions of the weekend. It also showed some of the Stars of the Future know their history.  One of the most promising drivers of the future is 17 year old Bobby Santos III who jumped at the chance to climb behind the wheel of the Bugs Stevens #15 Woodchopper Special. 
It was also discussed of the possibility of Bobby taking the car out for a few laps at the Waterford Speedbowl on the Weekend of August 9th and 10th during the Speedbowl's BIG  Nostalgia Weekend 2003.
It would be a chance for Bobby to get behind the wheel of a REAL Modified.

Of course when one of the "Clown Princes" of all of Auto Racing is in the area, he's going to be hamming it up a little bit.  Although Seymour the Clown showed up,  that's Bugsy Stevens in the rear of the car mugging for the camera.  To say the least Bugsy kept everyone around the NEAR Display on their toes.  Bugs and author Bones Bourcer really got some writers cramp signing all those books along with Ron Narducci, who was on hand to autograph the book FONDA. There was also an autograph session with Hall of Famer's Wild Bill Slater, Dick Watson, Wild Bill Greco and Moon Burgess who were mobbed during their hour autograph session.  For more photos of the NEAR Display festivities visit the NEAR Website at www.near1.com
